The United States Department of State along with the Institute of International Education (IIE) has invited Cindy Brantmeier to serve on the National Screening Committee for a three-year term beginning with this year’s competition. Professor Brantmeier will be a member of a committee that reviews applications by world region or discipline and nominates applications as semi-finalists for further consideration by the host country and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) annually administers the competition for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, sponsored by the United States Department of State in partnership with foreign governments and universities. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers recent graduates and graduate students opportunities for research, study, or teaching assistantships in over 140 countries.

The contributions of the U.S. academic community to the Fulbright Program selection process is a significant factor in the sustainability of the Program, and reviewers’ efforts are recognized each year in requesting funding from the U.S. Congress.
