One of the keys to the success of this partnership is the McDonnell International Scholars Academy. This unique program was launched by WashU in 2005 to support top international graduate students and to facilitate collaborations with international universities. Over its more than 15 year history, the McDonnell Academy has enrolled more than 25 students from Taiwan as McDonnell Scholars, and over 20 of these students were also MOE fellows. The McDonnell Academy provides leadership training and a strong network of Scholars and institutions from across the globe including National Taiwan University and National Yan Ming Chiao Tung University WashU faculty with deep ties to Taiwan serving as ‘Ambassadors’ to help advance this mission, such as Prof. Tuan-Hua David Ho and Prof. Jr-Shin Li

WashU is very proud of this partnership and what it has achieved. The program has been a great success for everyone involved – most of all the students. It has created the opportunity for many students to pursue their education and ultimately make important contributions to society.
